Keystrokes not detected in Chrome or browser with ESET Antivirus

ESET Internet Security can prevent PhraseExpander from correctly detecting abbreviations in browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, as well as in other applications such as Microsoft Word.

This happens because ESET’s Keyboard protection hides typed keystrokes from other applications, preventing PhraseExpander from detecting the abbreviation.

Change the Keyboard protection setting

ESET provides instructions for managing Keyboard protection under Advanced setup → Protections → Browser protection → Safe Banking & Browsing.

Follow ESET’s guide and disable Keyboard protection if PhraseExpander cannot detect abbreviations in your browser:

After changing the setting, restart PhraseExpander and the affected browser, then check that PhraseExpander can detect your abbreviations.
