Using PhraseExpander from a thumb drive

You can run PhraseExpander directly from a thumb drive by copying your installation folder and license key onto the drive, allowing you to launch and use the fully licensed program on any computer.

Prepare PhraseExpander for a portable installation

1. Run the installer as usual to install PhraseExpander on your machine (you must have admin privileges)

2. Copy the installation files to your thumb drive

   Copy the entire contents of C:\Program Files\PhraseExpander onto your thumb drive (it can be your root folder, or a specific folder)

3. Create a static license file

   Install a license key via static license file

4. Copy your license file

   Copy the licensekey.txt to your thumb drive in the same folder containing the PhraseExpander.exe file

   

5. Copy your database to your thumb drive

   Locate your database and copy it (default is: PhraseExpanderData.pedb) onto the thumb drive

Launch PhraseExpander from your thumb drive

Now you should have all the required files to launch PhraseExpander from the thumb drive.

1. Locate and double-click on PhraseExpander.exe

   

2. PhraseExpander will show an empty database

   

3. Open your database by clicking on File → Open and choosing the database (usually PhraseExpanderData.pedb) you put in the thumb drive.

4. Now PhraseExpander is loaded and showing your database.
