System requirements

PhraseExpander is a Windows application that you install on each computer where you use it. Your templates stay on your computer.

Operating system

PhraseExpander runs on Microsoft Windows. It does not run on macOS, iPhone, iPad or Android.

To use PhraseExpander on a Mac, run Windows in a virtual machine such as Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, and install PhraseExpander there.

Works offline

PhraseExpander works without an internet connection.

Remote Desktop and Citrix

PhraseExpander works in Remote Desktop and Citrix sessions. See Working with Remote Desktop applications or Citrix for the setup options.

Installation

PhraseExpander is installed locally on each computer. The installer is available as an EXE and an MSI file. To install it on many computers, see Centralized installation from the command line.

Where your data is stored

Your templates, autocorrects and settings are stored on your computer, in a database file in your Documents folder (see Locating your database). PhraseExpander doesn't need an online account, and we don't store your data on our servers or have access to it.

To use the same templates on more computers or share them with a team, you choose the folder where they are shared, such as a network folder, Dropbox or OneDrive. See Share your templates between your home and office machines and Template sharing in a team.
